Eyes (眼, Manako) is the sixth episode of GARO: Heir to Steel Armor.
Synopsis[]
The "Night of Dawn", which is said to open the way to the "Sekigan Forest" once every three years, finally arrives. Ryūga Dōgai and Souma Shirahane enter the forest and encounter the spirit Rauru. Rauru offers one condition in exchange for the location of the "Stone of Eternal Darkness", the key to the Labyrinth of Arvis. Meanwhile, Creacity is a glittering city at night. There, Naomi, a employee at Crea Hall, looked at the brilliant dancers with envy.[1]
Summary[]
With the latest crisis resolved, Souma sincerely and properly apologizes to Igusu and Mutsugi for his transgressions, citing that he has finally found his true purpose as a Makai Knight. As he does, he remembers Ryūga's encouragement which motivated him to join his allies. Reminding the young title-less Knight about how Hagane Armors gave rise to Makai Knights, Igusu informs Souma about the importance of inheriting the determination of a Knight who wears his Armor for the first time.
In the next night, Ryūga confides to Souma about the mysterious voice he heard from Kazamatsuri's Inga-infested telephone as well as their determination to reach Sekigan Forest as soon as Night of Dawn arrives. The voice was none other than Godou's, much to Souma's disbelief. Zaruba remarks the missing Makai Knight's thoughts remained in Creacity. Looking up at the full moon above, they see it turning red as blood — another Night of Dawn has arrived.
At the base, Mutsugi reassures Koyori that Ryūga and Souma would be able to work together considering improvement in the latter's state of mind. Still, she can't shake her worries about whether it is enough for the two to return home safely.
Ryūga and Souma stand in front of Sekigan Forest which revealed by the reddened moonlight; as it turns out, the Forest situates near Creacity all along, magically isolated from outside world by inhabiting spirits who safeguard it and natural terrains such as a chasm. Bypassing Sekigan Forest's weakened barrier, the duo see how the whole place looks different compared to the outside. Notably, everything is illuminated by blue light from above. The aforementioned barrier was the first line of inhabiting spirits' defenses as possessed leaves swarm upon them and would've cut both Knights into ribbons had it not for Ryūga's ESP. Ryūga reminds Souma to remain calm and watch his surroundings with his mind's eye when more of possessed leaves appear, this time materializing a gaunt figure named Rauru. Upon being inquired by Ryūga about Stone of Eternal Darkness and then Godou's visit three years back, Rauru issues a test where they must capture him in exchange of the answer they seek. The Golden Knight lets Souma answering the challenge.
To Souma's disbelief, Rauru's challenge is more than some cat and mouse game as the guardian spirit revealed to be a deceptively formidable opponent and trickster. In addition of hand-to-hand combat and aforementioned leaf trick, Rauru is armed with a conjured cord he expertly wields. Remembering Ryūga's advice earlier upon seeing him closing his eyes, Souma finally able to turn the tide of their fight, much to Rauru's chagrin. Nevertheless, after revealing how Godou fared better than his son did, Rauru fulfills his part of their deal all while reminding both Makai Knights that light and darkness are inseparable thus there's no telling where they ended up to.
Back at Creacity, at a club in Crea Hall, a young waitress name Naomi enjoys the sight of two women dancing for their audience. In the moment of distraction, she unwittingly spills the drink at another dancer who about to join her friends on the stage, much to her anger. Not even her attempts to apologize quell the latter's irritation, though she pragmatically decides not to antagonize the young waitress further. While cleaning up the rest of the mess she made by mistake, Naomi meets another dancer named Mari who sarcastically lets the young waitress have her dropped lipstick. Said dancer then ominously tells her about how one's life gets corrupted from picking up something which has fallen before asking whether she has since given up her previous career as a dancer like some tragic heroine. Setting out to the stage now that it's finally her turn, Mari cynically tells Naomi that there's no place for people like she had become now. Consumed by sorrow and envy, the embittered Naomi is oblivious to the presence of Parfum of Darkness in the area.
Back in Sekigan Forest, guided by Rauru, Ryūga and Souma reach the resting place of Stone of Eternal Darkness, which simply a clearing where the Stone floats. The Stone's last line of defense is being cannot be touched by anyone but Makai Knights who have tamed their inner darkness as Rauru explained; when Souma attempts to touch it, his hand passes through it as if the Stone is an illusion. So, he lets Ryūga obtaining Stone of Eternal Darkness on his behalf. Now that his business has been concluded, the guardian spirit of Sekigan Forest departs, but not before revealing Godou's next destination: The Gate of Destruction. The mystery behind Godou's disappearance gets bigger, and Ryūga reassures Souma that there must be a reason behind it.
Standing in front of a mirror, Naomi is reminiscing about her past career as one of Crea Hall's dancers. The sight of her still remember her moves seemingly surprised Mari to the point of deciding to have Naomi join her for old times's sake, going so far insisting one of her cohorts to lend the former dancer her costume. Apart from a scar on her left leg which shaking while in high-heeled shoe (her previous career apparently ended by an accident which resulted said scars), Naomi is still as pretty in the costume as she was. Upon finally on the stage and surrounded by the crowd however, Naomi had a second thought about what she supposed to do because everything seems too good to be true. Sure enough, Mari slaps her in front of everyone without warning to the point of falling to her knees in front of everyone.
It's clear to Naomi that the whole thing is a set-up Mari arranged to humiliate the former dancer. Unfortunately for the foolish and spiteful bully however, she won't be able to deliver coup de grâce because Naomi, now a Horror, declares her intention to devour her in Makai Language!

Trivia[]
- The episode has third subtle foreshadowing to Mustugi secretly already descent into villainy: Godou's message in Kazamatsuri's Inga-infested telephone, which apparently about him confiding with someone about his search for Gate of Destruction. There are three people whom Godou likely trusted enough for the matter; Ryūga Dogai, Igusu, and Mutsugi. Considering former two didn't contribute much, it left the latter to be the one who knew what befell Godou.
