GARO (fanged wolf) is a Japanese tokusatsu television series. It was broadcast on TV Tokyo from October 7, 2005 to March 31, 2006, lasting 25 episodes (with one additional "Overview" special, summarizing the events of episodes 1 through 13, aired before episode 14). Produced by [[Tohokushinsha Film Corporation|Tohokushinsha]], the series is considered by some to be a turning point in tokusatsu entertainment, as it was marketed towards adults and older teenagers, as opposed to younger children. The show contains graphic violence, nudity, and mature themes. It was marketed as a "Hyper Midnight Action Drama." In 2011, two new projects in the Garo franchise made their debut: a second television series titled '''''[[Garo: Makai Senki]]''''' (Makai Flash Knight) on October 6, 2011 and the spin-off V-Cinema Kiba Gaiden. News

  • GARO: Soukoku no Maryu (Demon Dragon of the Blue Cries) was released in Japan on February 23, 2013; its DVD release date is set on September 4, 2013. The movie has since been released and available online.
  • Garo: Yami o Terasu Mono (The One Who Shines in the Darkness) is the third series to Garo and has been airing since April 5, 2013. The series has since ended and now available online with English subtitles.
  • GARO: Tougen no Fue (Whistle of the Phantom Peach) was recently announced to be released on July 2013. The movie will feature the Makai Priestesses: Jabi and Rekka. It is the first movie to focus about the priestesses and does not feature any of the Makai Knights. The movie has since been released and available online.
  • ZERO: Black Blood is a new six episode mini-series focusing on the life of Zero, the Silver Knight. The series is slated for release on March 8th, 2014.
  • Garo creator, Keita Amemiya, has taken a break from the Garo series and created a new show, Shougeki Gouraigan. The show is currently on air and available online.
  • GARO: Makai no Hana (The Makai Flower) was recently announced as the new fourth season of Garo. Starring a brand new cast, it features Kouga's son, Raiga Saejima as the new Garo. The new series will air in April 2014.
  • In addition to the fourth season, two other projects have been announced. The first being a film which acts as a continuation to The One Who Shines in the Darkness and the other being an original anime entry of the franchise written by Yasuko Koboyashi of Attack on Titan fame.
