Mark (刻印, Kokuin) is the twenty second episode of the midnight tokusatsu series GARO.
Synopsis[]
Kaoru's neck marking is revealed to be a Gate for the ultimate Horror, Messiah. Kouga learns about Barago and that he has been manipulating Kaoru from the beginning. Kouga and Rei set out to fight the Watchdogs and Kodama.
Summary[]
Kouga walks in to the room to find Kaoru passed out on the floor. As he looks at her in the mirror, he sees the inga gate on her neck.
While he is pondering the reason that Kaoru has the gate on her neck, kouga is told by Silva that it could imply that Messiah is about to be summoned. Gonza shows Kouga and Rei a passage from The Book of the Dark Knight stating that the dark knight could become immortal if they fuse with Messiah. Kaoru enters the room telling Kouga about a strange dream she had involving a man who resembled Barago.
Zaruba subsequently tells the group about Baragos past as a student of Taiga and his hatred of horrors. How Barago found the Book of the Dark Knight and gave up his soul for power. Taiga found Barago as he was about to devour a horror, but he was too late to save Barago, who later killed Taiga. Kouga asks Zaruba why he didn't tell him earlier, to which the response as that Taiga placed the mark of death on Barago and hat Zaruba promised Taiga not to tell Kouga about this.
The watchdogs realise that Kouga et al know about Barago being Kiba. Barago enters the chamber.
Gonza deliver copies of Kaoru's fathers book from the kindergarten where she repaired the mural. Gonza ponders how it is possible that Yuji Mitsuki was rescued by Taiga. Kaoru wonders why her father didn't draw on the last page. Kaoru drops the book when she sees Baragos face in it.
Kaoru tells Kouga to kill her in order to protect the world from the engraving. Kouga tells Kaoru that he need her. They both see Barago. Kouga chases him through the forest. Rei joins Kouga in attacking Barago, who quick dispatches the pair before escaping.
Kaoru realizes that her nightmare was a memory of when Barago cursed her. The group realise that Barago has manipulated them the entire time. Kaoru walks out of the room. Before he can chase after her, Kouga is asked by Rei to talk.
Gonza and Kaoru look through copies of the books they received and see pictures drawn by children.
Rei explains to Kouga how he thought that Kouga killed Shizuka. Kouga and Rei agree to team up. Kaoru and Gonza enter the room and Kouga summons the Garo armor. Kouga and Rei both try to calm Kaoru.
As Rei and Kouga leave to attack the watchdogs, they place a protective barrier on their home.
