Anglay (アングレイ, Angurei), also spelling Engrey, is a paint-themed Inga Horror able to bring artwork to life and used them in his traps. The monster has a taste for young women, liquifying them into paint for consumption. Its host is a gallery owner named Tasuke Taniyama (谷山 太輔, Taniyama Tasuke). He is the first Horror seen by Kaoru Mitsuki.

Anglay's natural form

Using a female nude portrait as a Gate when the gallery owner Tasuke Taniyama touched it, Anglay possesses the human's body and targets females who enter the gallery with Kaoru as a potential meal. However, the appearance of Kouga Saejima forces Anglay to lockdown the art exhibit. In the fight with Kouga, Anglay bursts out from its host and manifests itself into a painting to assume its evolved state until being forced back into its original form. Garo kills it and Kaoru stained by the Horror's blood as a result.

Abilities[]

  • Horror Powers: Reflected by his Inga gate, Angley can generate and manipulate ink from his very being as well as adjusting the ink's properties at will. Like all Horrors he can erect barriers.
    • Ink Manipulation: Angley has dominion over ink such as releasing highly corrosive ink blasts as long-range. He can also convert his human targets into ink to devor.
    • Minion Manifestation: Angley can also create Red Knights (赤い騎士, Akai Kishi) from artwork to assist him, they are equipped with spears but do not seem very powerful.

  • Claws: In Angley's stronger form he posses incredibly sharp claws, with the one's on his right hand are even longer and sharper.
  • Blade: Additionally Angley has a blade growing out of his right hand.

Trivia[]

  • Angley is the first Horror to be introduced in the overall series, the storyline explaining that Angley was the 12th Horror to appear during the chain of events caused by Barago.
    • When exposed with Madō Flames, Angley's eyes turned pale blue instead of pale green. This likely because the creator of the series at that time still developing lore about Horrors.
      • Also, Angley is the only Horror who reverted to his basic Inga form unlike others who stay in their evolved form nor forming Demon Beast Exoskeleton.
