Watchdog (番犬, Banken) is the twenty-second episode of GARO: The Makai Flower.
Synopsis[]
With no leads on who the cloaked man is, Raiga asks his Watchdog for assistance on learning his identity; a rouge Makai Knight named Eiji. Crow seems to know this but is withholding the information from his friends, instead trying to face his mentor to stop him. Meanwhile, the final Slab horror is found and captured by Eiji, who kills it and obtains Eyrith's seed. He then kidnaps Mayuri for his plans to revive his dead lover.
Summary[]
Eiji stops Mayuri from sealing Eyriths seed. He tells them that it is almost time before he escapes. As Raiga and Mayuri discuss who he is, Crow disappears.
Jill tells Raiga twho Eiji is and how Crow was his best student, warning him that Crow could be a traitor. As he is about to leave, Raiga asks Jill for Mayuris freedom, to which she states that she will do what she can.
Eiji and Crow meet in an alley. Before they can talk, Eiji rests. Eiji recalls bringing the Phantom Makai Knights to see Mayuri when she was sleeping. Crow tells Eiji that he is tasked with eliminating the person who released the seed of Eyrith. As Crow prepares to attempt to take in Eiji, Eiji manages to escape.
Jienda absorbs the seed of Eyrith. Mayuri senses Eyrith and leaves the mansion, asking Gonza to make her soup upon her return.
Raiga and Crow meet up as Crow tells Raiga about his meeting with Eiji. Crow tells Raiga that Eiji is trying to revive someone he loved two years ago as the pair realize that Eiji is looking for Mayuri.
Jienda and Eiji do battle, ending with Eiji stabbing Jienda. As Mayuri is searching or Eyrith, Eiji captures her, stating that he has already captured the last Horror. Eiji traps Mayuri next to Jienda, who is sleeping, as he tells her that he needs her to see Akari again. Eiji extracts the seed of Eyrith, who resurrects Akari.
Raiga and Crow manage to track Mayuri when she opens her gate. Eiji leaves Mayuri to battle Raiga and Crow as the charm, given to him by Akari when she fell ill, chimes.
The the credits scene, Mayuri finds herself tied up.
